Fun Developmental Opportunities for Preschool Kids

At American Montessori, our 3-year to 6-year Montessori program is designed for children 2 1/2 to 6 years old. It's taught by our AMI Montessori teacher, Miss Sandy. She has been teaching this class for over 30 years. Miss Sandy and her team will help with the total development of your child — emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially. The program helps children master their interest in preliminary, practical life, sensorial, math, reading, and writing before they graduate.

Over the last 25 years, American Montessori has had many students graduate. These children are excelling in math, writing, reading, and spelling bees. Many of them are in accelerated programs, gifted and talented programs, and STEM programs in public and private schools.

Summer

At American Montessori we don't let summer break interrupt the learning process. During June, July, and August, we continue to offer our excellent programs for public and private school students that are not in session.

Our program includes kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade students working together in a mixed environment. Due to the limited capacity of 15 students, early enrollment for these months is recommended.

We provide excellent programs for toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-K students during the summer as well.

Spanish

Our Spanish programs are taught by our teachers who speak fluent Spanish and have been teaching with us for over five years. They prepare lessons and work with the children. Below are some examples of what they learn:

  • Math/numbers with quantities up to 100
  • Reading, phonetic reading, and building words and sentences
  • Sounds, letters, letterbox, phonetic words, flashcards, reading books

  • Gardening
  • Nature walks

Gymnastics

We offer a gymnastics program during the summer. We bring in an instructor from a local gymnastics school to teach the fundamentals. This helps the children learn balance and coordination.

Yoga

Our yoga program is offered during the winter months. We have an instructor come in and teach the beginning steps of yoga and meditation. This helps the children to focus and improves their concentration.

Dance

Dance is taught daily in our Burnsville location and once a week in our Apple Valley location. This teaches the children to be more coordinated and helps them improve their focus and concentration.

Zumba

Once a week, our Zumba dance instructor comes to Burnsville and Apple Valley and does a high-energy 45-minute Zumba class with the children. This teaches them balance and rhythmic moves and teaches them that exercise can be fun.

Sports

Our sports program (available in the summer) teaches the children the fundamentals of several popular sports. My son is able to read and do simple maths. He also developed great cognitive skills which lead him to do very well in the NNAT test. He had a lot of fun there as well. These all are possible because of American Montessori.
